2006 Food & Wine Fest Success

2006 Gourmet Gala the Best Yet...

What an evening!

Truly a celebration of the senses –  absolutely wild sockeye, oysters galore, prawns & rock lobster, dolce gelato, tapas, breads, organic cheeses. wines, too many to count, but wonderful to sip.  Live jazz with Lesismore and saxophone by our old friend Paul Choisil. Emcees David Scholefield  and Dawn Chubai kept the evening’s mood light but focused on what we were there to do – raise money for the kids! And raise money we did…..

The 5th Annual SOS Children’s Village Food & Wine Fest, presented by Foresters and generously hosted by Eaglequest Coyote Creek Golf Club, welcomed 300 guests and raised $35,000 on Thursday, June 8th.  The auction, although silent, was a winner and targeted the epicurians in the room.  Food & wine baskets, cook books, wine tours, spa getaways, a magnum of Burrowing Owl Pinot Gris, Leanne Laine giclee wine art, golf at Brentwood Bay, and more.  We were also delighted by the continued support of Air Canada which again provided 2 tickets anywhere Air Canada flies in North America, including Hawaii and the Caribbean.

We would like to thank the Bacchus Group, Charton Hobbs, Corby Distilleries Ltd, Delf Group/Next Beverage, Domaine de Chaberton Estate Winery, Freehouse Wines, Golden Bright Enterprises, Independent Distillers, Liberty Wine Merchants, Mark Anthony Wine Merchants, Peacock Martin, Renaissance Wine Merchants, Summerhill Pyramid Winery, The Fort Wine Co, Westham Island Estate Winery for the broad selection of wines presented throughout the evening.

On the food side, a celebration of the senses compliments of  Bernard Callebaut, Charlie's Chocolate Factory and his amazing chocolate fountain, Dolce Gelato, Goat's Pride Dairy at McLellan Creek, Fieldstone Artisan Breads, Greco's Specialty Foods market, Cielo's Oyster & Tapas Bar, Maharajah Catering, Coyote Creek Golf Club, Moonstruck Organic Cheeses, The Seasonal Experience, Ruby Salmon: Absolutely Wild and Gone Crackers.  And then there is all the work behind the scenes.  Our appreciation goes to Prospera Credit Union, Whalley Printers, Second City Signs and our great media partners: Citytv, 96.9 JackFM, 104.9 Clear FM and The Now Newspaper.

Next year’s event is already being planned – Eaglequest Coyote Creek Golf Club – week of June 4, 2007.  See you there.
