Confidentiality Agreement

I,  , agree to maintain the confidentiality of information and to always act in accordance with written policy and procedures of SOS Children’s Village BC regarding confidentiality and disclosure of information.

As a member of the SOS BC team, whether staff, associate, contract staff, volunteer, board member or practicum student, I agree to maintain the confidentiality of all information that comes to me through my association with SOS BC.

I will not share information in passing with anyone inside or outside the organization. I will remain vigilant regarding information sharing.

I will not share information with anyone who is not authorized to receive the information from me. If I have any question regarding my authority to give someone information from me, I will direct their request to the Village Director (Darlene Straarup).

Information that is to be treated as confidential includes, but is not limited to:

  • information which would identify children and youth in, or referred to, the Village;
  • information which would identify natural and extended families of children and youth in, or referred to, the Village;
  • other information about children, youth or their natural and extended family;
  • information regarding staff, contracted staff, associates, donors, volunteers, board members and practicum students;
  • information regarding the society and operations;
  • information regarding contract negotiations with any person, organization, or Ministry.

Policy of SOS Children’s Village BC requires that information regarding children and youth, SOS team members, volunteers and board members be treated in a confidential manner at all times.

If a request comes to me under the Freedom of information and Protection of Privacy Act, I will handle the request in accordance with policy. If I am unclear at any point, I will direct the inquiry to the Village Director.
